Language Trip to Edinburgh, Scotland 11.-19.9.2024 with Prof. Eva Singer and Prof. Sabine Vogelmayer 7. Klassen

We arrived in Edinburgh on Wednesday evening and met our host families. It was super exciting to finally be in the city after weeks of planning. The next morning we did a guided city tour, met at school to have our first lessons and walked around Edinburgh and had a scavenger hunt. We had a great time exploring more of Edinburgh and saw our first bagpipers.
During our stay we took a bus to Glasgow where we spent one day. On the way there we stopped for the famous Kelpies – gigantic statues of horses which you can already see from far away.
The next days – back in Edinburgh – we visited the National Museum, took a tour of Real Mary King’s Close, an underground street where people lived in the 17th century and tried to fight the Plague. We visited the Scottish Parliament and hiked up Arthur’s Seat to have a stunning view of Edinburgh.
We had never expected to go to a beach in Scotland but we did: Portobello Beach is a very nice spot just a few bus stops outside of Edinburgh. We spent a lovely afternoon there and – coincidence or not – it was the warmest of all the sunny days in Scotland.
We had a great time, spent lots of afternoons packed with interesting activities. The last afternoon, after visiting St. Giles’ Cathedral as well as Greyfriars Kirkyard, we had some freetime which we enjoyed a lot. The last evening we spent with our host families, enjoyed some time out before we took the plane home the next morning.
